Scope 3 – where ACG Accent has its greatest climate impact and its greatest opportunity

For ACG Accent, as for many other companies, the largest share of our climate impact does not come from our own operations, but from Scope 3 emissions. These are the emissions that occur across the value chain – for example through product manufacturing, material sourcing, transportation, product use and end-of-life treatment.

This is precisely why Scope 3 represents both our greatest challenge and our most important opportunity in climate work. The challenge lies in complexity. Scope 3 includes many actors, often across multiple tiers of the value chain, and access to reliable data can be limited. At the same time, companies rarely have full control over all processes. Identifying the right actions – and ensuring they lead to real and measurable emission reductions – requires analysis, dialogue and long-term commitment.

But this is also where ACG Accent has the greatest potential to make a meaningful difference.

By working in a structured way with our suppliers, developing requirements in purchasing and procurement, and gradually integrating climate considerations into product development and business decisions, we can influence emissions far beyond our own organization. Small changes in material choices, product design or transport solutions can have a significant impact when scaled across the value chain.

As expectations from customers and regulatory frameworks such as CSRD continue to increase, Scope 3 is becoming a central part of how companies take responsibility for their climate impact. For ACG Accent, this is not a side project – it is a key part of our commitment to contributing to real emission reductions and a more sustainable value chain.
